Dr. Monica Eisele-Flint Graduated from University of Texas, Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and German Literature. She attended University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health and received a degree in Medicine from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Medicine. Dr. Eisele-Flint completed her Internal Medicine residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York where she received an award for Outstanding Home Officer in Ambulatory Care Medicine. She was a faculty member at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Eisele-Flint has moved to the Bay Area with her husband and three children. She is fluent in Spanish and German.

Dr. Grace S. Eng received her B.S. and M.D. from the University of Michigan. She completed her Internal Medicine residency training at Yale University, where she was honored with the John W. Brackett Award for excellence in resident teaching. She went on to complete her subspecialty fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Washington University in St. Louis, before settling in the Bay Area. Dr. Eng has a consultative practice in endocrinology and accepts patients by referral only.


L. Desiree Dougherty P.A-C received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida. She then graduated from the Physician Assistant Program at the University of South Alabama receiving her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant studies. She recently relocated to the Bay Area with her husband from Tampa, Florida. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, yoga, and traveling.


Dr. Marci L. Gottlieb graduated with honors from the University of California, Riverside, and earned her medical degree from UCLA School of Medicine. She completed her Internal Medicine training at Mt. Zion Hospital. She was in private practice in San Francisco for twelve years before joining Associated Internal Medicine. She, her husband, and two daughters live in Oakland.


Dr. YiYi Stephanie Gu graduated with highest honors from the University of California at Davis, and stayed at Davis to complete her medical education, Internal Medicine residency and Rheumatology fellowship training. She recently moved back to the Bay Area where she originally grew up. Dr. Gu has a consultative practice in Rheumatology and also specializes in sports injuries as well as Osteoporosis. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and conversational in Cantonese.

Dr. Maia Hightower received a B.A. at Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York. She attended University of Rochester, Rochester New York and received MD and a Master in Public Health. Dr. Hightower completed residency at University of California San Diego specializing in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. She received the Robert J. Haggerty Prize in Pediatrics while attending University of Rochester School of Medicine. She was named “Resident Physician of the Year 2007” by UC San Diego Medical Center. She was a Peace Corps volunteer teaching high school biology and chemistry in Cameroon. Dr. Hightower is proficient in Spanish, and has knowledge of Portuguese. While at leisure, she enjoys traveling, tennis and running.

Dr. Michael Kim graduated from Penn State University and graduated from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He completed his residency at the New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center in New York City and has served in the Air Force at Travis Air Force Base. Interests include golf, woodworking, and classical music.


Dr. John T. Jones received a B.A. from Stanford University and graduated from Vanderbilt University Medical School with Honors. His Internal Medicine Residency was at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in New York City and at the University of California, San Francisco where he was Chief Resident in Medicine. He served as chief of Internal Medicine in Ankara, Turkey in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Jones completed training with a Pulmonary Fellowship at U.C.S.F. Medical Center and began private practice in Berkeley in 1971. He joined Associated Internal Medicine Medical Group in July, 2003.


Dr. Susan Lu obtained her Bachelor of Science at University of Michigan and her MD at Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at Loyola University in Illinois. She had an additional year of training at St. Louis University in Missouri. Special interests include Yoga, reading and singing.

Dr. Dean J. Nickles graduated with honors from West Point and received his medical education at West Virginia University. He completed his residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. He also specializes in critical care. Interests include swimming and cycling. Dr. Nickles is also a fan of Oakland's athletic teams. His approach to medical care focuses on physical and emotional health and well-being, with an emphasis on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle.

Terri Pagano, P.A-C graduated with highest distinction from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology. She then attended Samuel Merritt College in Oakland, CA where she received her Master's of Physician Assistant. In her spare time she enjoys reading, running, traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Dr. Anna B. Shurter graduated with honors in biochemistry from the University of California at Davis and also earned her medical degree from the University of California at Davis. She completed her internal medicine residency at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and went on to finish a subspecialty fellowship in Endocrinology/Diabetes/Metabolism at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. She has done research in lipid disorders and diabetic eye disease. She is a Bay Area native and enjoys hiking, swimming and traveling in her free time. Dr. Shurter has a consultative practice in endocrinology and accepts patients by referral only.

Lora Smith P.A-C graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Nutritional Sciences. She then attended the Physician Assistant program at Touro University in California where she graduated with her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies and her Masters in Public Health. Interests include traveling, running, reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Leslie S. Tim graduated from Stanford University. She completed medical school at the University of California, San Diego and residency at Vanderbilt University. She was chief resident in medicine at the University of Tennessee Medical School, Nashville. Interests include gardening and cooking.

Dr. Elaine Wong obtained her Bachelor of Science at University of California in Davis where she graduated with honors. She received a degree in medicine from Medical College of Wisconsin, in Milwaukee. She completed an internal medicine residency at University of California Irvine in Orange and an Endocrinology Fellowship at VA Greater Los Angles Healthcare System in Los Angeles, California. She is fluent in Cantonese and Toisanese.


Dr. Katy C. Young-Lee graduated from Stanford University with a human biology degree. She then received her Masters of Public Health from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Public Health. She received her MD from University of Vermont in Burlington. She did her internal medicine residency at University of California, Davis and specialized in primary care. In her leisure, she enjoys trying new healthy recipes, reading, exercise, and raising her two energetic children
